To Schedule Dial-A-Ride Service Call: (219) 873-1502
- MC TRANSIT offers a demand response service called Dial-A-Ride. The service operates by appointment only, between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. through 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
- In order to receive Dial-A-Ride services, an approved application must be on file with MC Transit. Part A of the application is to be completed by the applicant, and Part B is to be completed by the applicant's Health Care Provider such as a physician.
- The fare for Dial-A-Ride is $2.00 (each person per trip). No passes of any kind will be accepted. A trip is from pick-up point to drop-off point, not round trip.
- After obtaining a certification card, you must call MC TRANSIT at (219) 873-1502 to schedule a ride.
- Rides are scheduled upon request. If time requested is not available, you may schedule your ride within one hour before or after the requested time. Rides may not be scheduled for more than two weeks in advance.
- The transit vehicle operator cannot assist anyone in getting on or off the bus. The only exception is for usage of the wheelchair lift, for which the driver will operate the lift and strap the wheelchair into place.
- If a person needs assistance, one personal care attendant may ride free (and only if "YES" is marked on question 9 on the application).
- Any Dial-A-Ride customer that needs to "CANCEL SERVICE" must notify the MC Transit at least sixty (60) minutes prior to their scheduled pickup. Any thing less than the minimum of sixty (60) minutes will require a $2.00 payment. This allows other customers to use the service at that time.
- An individual who schedules a Dial-A-Ride appointment and neglects to cancel his or her appointment, at least sixty (60) minutes in advance, must pay the $2.00 fare.
